What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling is one of the more dependable ways to freshen up skin without going under the knife. The idea is simple. Tiny needles create hundreds of tiny channels on the surface; your body reads them as small injuries and responds by laying down fresh collagen. New collagen is the whole point. As it fills in, skin firms up, fine lines ease off, and rough patches smooth over. We do microneedling here in Houston with a system called Exion.
So what’s Exion? It’s microneedling with a second trick added on. Alongside the needle channels, it sends fractional radiofrequency into the deeper layers of the skin.
The needles kick off the collagen. The heat firms things further. That pairing does more than needles alone, which is why we reach for it for texture, fine lines, and skin that’s just starting to loosen. Downtime, Results, and How Many Sessions
There’s not much downtime. Straight after, you’ll look a little flushed — think mild sunburn — maybe with a touch of swelling. It settles quickly, usually within a day or two, and most people head back to whatever they were doing that same afternoon.
The results, though, take their time. Collagen doesn’t rebuild overnight. You’ll catch the first signs, skin looking smoother and a bit tighter, within a week or two, and it keeps getting better over the weeks after as more collagen forms. This isn’t really a one-and-done treatment. Most people do a short run, usually three or four sessions about a month apart, then drop in for the odd maintenance session to hold things where they landed. We’ll work out the right number for your skin when you come in, so you’re not left guessing.
